Happy Birthday, Galileo Galilei

February 15, 1564, was the birthdate of Galileo Galilei, the Italian natural philosopher whose discoveries in astronomy helped end religion's domination of Western society and start the Enlightenment.
Thank god we no longer have to worry about superstition masquerading as empirical knowledge.
