Just like you don't have to be a priest to become pope, you might not have to play in the NoHockeyLeague to vie for the Stanley Cup: with the NHL out of commission this year, some Canadian amateurs are suing for the right to play for the cup on the grounds "Lord Stanley's intention when he donated the Stanley Cup was to have teams compete for the trophy every year," strikes, lockouts, or 1919 flu epidemics notwithstanding.
