Bizarre Conversation Had While Waiting to Cross the Street

Stranger Lady: Where did you get those cute shoes?*

Me: Oh - thanks! I ordered them from Amazon.com.

Stranger Lady: Oh! (Pause. Slowly.) Amazon-dot-com?

Me: Yep.

Stranger Lady: (Longer pause.) Is that a retail store?

Me: (Disbelieving.) Uh ... yeah, it's an online store? They mostly sell books and music, but they also have other products like shoes.

Stranger Lady: Oh! Wow, sounds neat. I'll have to check that out! (Light changes, Stranger Lady walks off.)

I'm not kidding, people. This woman had never heard of Amazon.com. And it's not like this is the boonies - this is in downtown Minneapolis! WTF? Am I being elitist, or is this freaking weird?
