Fear and Trembling at Being 192 Years Old

Happy birthday, Sren Kierkegaard! Of course, what does it matter if it's your birthday, since existence is largely meaningless and God hates us anyhow? Well, it matters because you're a very likable Lutheran, for one. For another, who can't appreciate a philosopher who was so widely hated by his countrymen that he was actually heckled in public - and who described that experience as "that slow death, being trampled to death by a flock of geese." Never has there been a better metaphor for the working life! (If you don't know anything about Kierkegaard, read this profile by some no-name novelist.)
