Why Daily Kos is no longer on the Blogroll

Because here in Snackerville, we have a three-strikes-and-you're-out policy.

Strike 1 - Kos runs a classified ad from MetroSpy, a homophobic, conservative marketing company. He does not (that I'm aware of) respond to messages asking him to take the ad down or explain its presence.

Strike 2 - Claiming that "abortion and choice aren't core values of the Democratic party," Kos excoriates Dems who disagree with that position.

Strike 3 - Kos posts an ad for "The Real Gilligan's Island" that offends some of his readers with its gross stereotypes of catfighting/sexual women. In response to complaints, Kos calls the offended readers "tedious at best, sanctimonious and arrogant at worst," and vows not to let "the sanctimonious women's studies set" play gatekeeper on his site.

So, you know. Enough is enough. There are plenty of excellent blogs out there that manage to encompass sensitivity to gays and women in their definition of "progressive." No reason to link to someone who can't seem to do it, no matter how widely read or "important" he is. I should acknowledge here that I realize this is purely a symbolic removal, as I'm sure Kos couldn't care less whether or not we link to him, but there it is. We no likey; we no linkey.
