Equally as stupid

A message from your local grammar cop:

Look, people, I'm not going to say this again. "Equally" and "as" are nearly interchangable. You do NOT need to use both of them in the same comparative phrase.

Acceptable: Rove and Cheney are equally evil.

OR: Rove is as evil as Cheney.

Unacceptable: Rove is equally as evil as Cheney.

OK? Are we cool now? Can we quit with the redundancy already?
