Ralph Reed: Jackass for Jesus

The Abramoff scandal reinforces a truism of Western culture: the literally holier-than-thou - whether observant Jews like Abramoff or vocal born-again Christians like Tom DeLay - are no harder to corrupt than anyone else. In fact, as that scandal and this hilarious email echange between erstwhile GOP powerbroker Ralph Reed to Jack Abramoff shows, they're often eager to do the corrupting, not just to get corrupted:

Reed: "Jack, would you be willing to contribute personally to my state chair campaign? This race is costing me $50-100K, and i'm asking my friends to help."

Abramoff: "Sure. Give me the name of the entity."

Reed: "The actual committee is "The Reed Family Retirement and Educational Foundation." It is a 501(c)(3). The address is 200 Bay Drive, Grand Cayman, BCI, R59876."

Abramoff: "Ha ha ha."
