Like a Ray of Sunlight

It's a cold, dreary, and dark day here in Northfield, which means it's perfect to blog about the Italian villagers who have installed a giant computer-controlled mirror to beam sunlight down into their town. Thanks to some really brilliant (sorry) planning, Viganella is located at the bottom of a valley so deep and steep that it gets no sunlight at all from November to February.

Reading this story last night, I thought, first, "God, how ingenious! What a great solution! And so simple, really!" Then I thought, "What did the first denizens of this village think when, on November 11, everything went dark?" Then I thought, "Mmmm... Prosciutto."
