Downing Street Memo Momentum

... or is it Memo-ntum? Whichever, there are lots of great updates on the Downing Street memo front:

*** First, huge ups to Shakespeare's Sister for spearheading the Big Brass Alliance. She's working her ASS off on this initiative, and it's already paying off. Go stick a coupla bucks in her tip jar if you can spare it. In other news ...

*** Rep. John Conyers has already gotten over 86,000 signatures on his letter to the President! This is great news, and largely due to internet coverage of the issue. BradBlog has the scoop. If you haven't already signed it, go to www.johnconyers.com and add your name.

*** Digby's picked up on the initiative - the first of the "big-boy" bloggers to do so, to my knowledge. Let's hope some of the others follow his lead.

*** Yesterday, John Kerry spoke out on the lack of coverage of the memo in the US, and vowed to raise the issue once he gets back to Washington on Monday, saying, "it's amazing to me the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."

*** Smintheus over at DailyKos has started a supporting campaign to "Awaken the Media." Each day, three media contacts will be posted for interested parties to contact and politely suggest they start covering the Downing Street memo. The contacts for June 1 are here; the contacts for June 2 are here.

*** And finally, the Big Brass Alliance site is getting fleshed out with lots of links, instructions for getting on the mailing list, and much more. If for no other reason, go check it out just for the list of participating blogs. It's a real cockle-warmer to see how many bloggers are working together on this initiative!
