Paging Mr. Franken ...

Well, crap. Mark Dayton has just announced that he won't be running for re-election to the US Senate. Doug Grow weighs in on some of the reasons why. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I really like Mark Dayton - he's a decent, honest man with progressive values and he's been a good senator for MN. And I really, really hate to have him abandon ship like this. On the other hand, he's not wildly popular and he may be right in his assessment that he's not the best person to insure that the seat stays in the hands of the DFL. The GOP's had him in their sites for a while now, and lord knows they're going to throw everything they have into turning that seat Republican. So overall, I think it's a heroic move on Dayton's part. Now we just need to find an ass-kicking, take-no-prisoners Democrat to make the run. Al, are you listening????
