72nd Anniversary of FDR's First Inauguration

1933: On this day, Franklin D. Roosevelt took the office of the U.S. presidency. At that time the United States was mired in the Great Depression, and Roosevelt in his inaugural address somehow conveyed to the nation some of his own unshakable self-confidence. “This great nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and prosper,” he asserted, “...the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
