Terra'ism: A Pro-Growth Strat'gy
Dying in the Tube? Blah. What really matters is that stocks rose on news of the murders in London:
The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average rose 31.61 points, or 0.31 per cent, to finish at 10,302.29. The broad Standard & Poor's 500 Index advanced 2.92 points, or 0.24 per cent, to end at 1197.86. The tech-laced Nasdaq Composite Index gained 7.01 points, or 0.34 per cent, to close at 2075.66.If 50 dead Britons yield these kind of gains, why, I think the GOP has a new "pro-growth" plan! Stand back, please, while I extrapolate:
50 deaths | 100 deaths | 1000 deaths | 2000 deaths | 10,000 deaths | |
DJIA | 10,302.29 | 10,365.51 | 10,934.49 | 11,566.69 | 16,624.29 |
S&P500 | 1,197.86 | 1,203.70 | 1,256.26 | 1,314.66 | 1,781.86 |
NASDAQ | 2,075.66 | 2,089.68 | 2,215.86 | 2,356.06 | 3,477.66 |
Numbers don't lie! I think we can all agre with Karl Rove that this would be a win-win strategy: mo' money for the already-wealthy, of course, but also the Terra to induce proper voting behavior among thems that ain't got. With just a few more dead in Merrie Olde Englande, we could put the "ooh" back in "plutocrats"!
