Google Loving, Part II

Following on Elise's post on the coolness of Google, another - ten rules used at Google "to make knowledge workers most effective."

  • Hire by committee
  • Cater to their every need
  • Pack them in
  • Make coordination easy
  • Eat your own dog food
  • Encourage creativity
  • Strive to reach consensus
  • Don't be evil
  • Data drive decisions
  • Communicate effectively
Though poorly edited (the nonparallel [intersecting?] items in the list, a reference to "seven key principles" just before listing ten), the full article has a good intro and conclusion to the list, as well as substantial expositions of what each one means in practical, organizational terms. Read this if only to see how many of the rules your employer violates. (My erstwhile employer broke at least eight...)
