Focus on the Damnly

James Dobson et al rolled into St. Paul yesterday for a "Stand for the Family" event. The coverage in the Strib and on teevee was annoying, but I like Norwegianity's take on the event:

Originally scheduled for the Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul’s new hockey arena, it was relocated to the Roy Wilkins Arena, a much smaller and less flashy venue located adjacent to the Xcel... But we ended up in the Roy Wilkins arena with about two thousand (yes, I counted, unlike that StarTribune reporter) of the “moral backbone” of our country. Not quite the turnout they’d expected, but that’s probably why it was moved to the smaller arena. I understand that at the opening of this crusade in Pittsburgh, the organizers split the arena with a curtain so that the empty seats were hidden and the turnout looked larger. Apparently the third of the rallies, scheduled for Nashville, has been cancelled due to low turnout. When a flag-waving bunch of religious ideologues can’t fill a hall in Nashville, this country is once again on the right path.
